About

Fiona Hayvice is a New Zealand ultrarunner born on 16 December 1975 who took up competitive ultra running in 2010 after being invited to complete a 250-kilometre self-supported race across the Gobi Desert. Based in Wellington, where she co-founded the retail business YOYO with her husband, she is a committed vegan who combines elite competition with motherhood. She made headlines in 2016 by winning the Tarawera Ultramarathon 100K, and in 2017 finished fifth at the Western States 100 on her 100-mile debut — the highest ever finish by a New Zealand or Australian woman at that race at the time. She has twice represented New Zealand at the IAU World Championships, and at the 2019 24-Hour World Championships in France she ran 210 kilometres, a personal best and top distance in the Kiwi team.
