About

Fabio Di Giacomo is an Italian ultrarunner who came to distance running out of a desire to recover physical well-being after a prolonged period of inactivity — an origin story common to many who discover that long-distance running restores something essential in them, though what followed was anything but common. Within a few years of taking the sport seriously, Di Giacomo was winning some of Italy's most demanding 100-kilometre and 100-mile trail races, accumulating victories across the full range of the country's long-distance circuit: The Abbots Way Ultra 123.7km in 2017, the Ultra-Trail Via degli Dei 123km in 2018, EcoTrail Florence 82km and I Villaggi di Pietra 108km in 2019, the Ronda Ghibellina Trail 70.8km in 2020, Tuscany Crossing 100 miles in 2021, and the 100 Miglia Monviso in 2023. Racing for the Eolo team and later recognised with a UTMB Index of 712, he also won the Morenic Trail outright and has competed at UTMB Mont-Blanc and Western States 100, taking his racing beyond Italy's borders while remaining a dominant force on the domestic circuit. A champion of Italian ultra-trail racing who has visited schools to share his running story, Di Giacomo is one of the most prolific winners at the ultra-distance on the Italian trail calendar across the past decade.
