About
David Roche is an American ultrarunner, running coach, and author from Boulder, Colorado who delivered one of the sport's most astonishing debut 100-mile performances: winning the 2024 Leadville Trail 100 in 15:26:34, breaking Matt Carpenter's 19-year-old course record in his first attempt at the distance. He defended the title in 2025, lowering his own record to 15:12:30. A Columbia and Duke University graduate, Roche co-founded SWAP (Some Work, All Play) coaching with his wife Megan Roche MD and co-authored The Happy Runner. Named #2 in the 2024 and #4 in the 2025 Worldwide UltraRunner of the Year standings, he is one of the most analytically-minded athletes in the sport.
