About
David Goggins (born 1975, Buffalo, New York) is a retired US Navy SEAL, motivational author, and one of the most celebrated endurance athletes of his generation. With no marathon background, he entered his first 100-mile race in 2005 and finished in under 19 hours, then placed 5th at Badwater 135 in 2006 and 3rd in 2007. Over his career he completed more than 60 ultramarathons and triathlons, was named a 'Hero of Running' by Runner's World in 2008, and set a Guinness World Record for pull-ups (4,030 in 17 hours). His 2018 memoir Can't Hurt Me became a New York Times bestseller and introduced millions to his philosophy that most people operate at only 40% of their true capability.
