About
David Byrne is an Australian trail runner, coach, and The North Face athlete from Sydney who built his running career first as a national representative in track and cross-country, competing at World Junior Championships and World Cross Country Championships across distances from 800 metres to 10,000 metres. After stepping away from competitive running to build a media business, he was reinspired while filming The North Face 100 in the Blue Mountains, returned to competition with a new passion for the mountains, and quickly became one of Australia's most prolific trail race winners, accumulating victories in most major domestic events and international podiums from 5 km to multi-day mountain races. His trail career has taken him to the French Alps, the Himalayas, and New Zealand. He now channels his experience into coaching through The Long Run Australia, with a particular focus on using trail running to educate people about conservation.
