About
Dave Stevens is a Canadian trail runner and coach from Nelson, British Columbia, who grew up in England without any competitive athletic background and came to elite ultra running through an impulsive decision: on vacation in Arizona in 2018, he entered the Javelina Jundred 100 Mile — 75 kilometres longer than anything he had previously raced — and finished second. That debut launched a methodical rise through North American 100-mile mountain running. In 2021 he won the Run Rabbit Run 100 Mile in Steamboat Springs, Colorado — one of the most competitive 100-mile mountain races in the United States — and in 2023 returned to win again in a course record of 17:22:33, collecting a $15,000 first prize in one of the deepest competitive fields the race has assembled. Between those two Colorado victories he won the UTMB Puerto Vallarta 170km in Mexico in 2022, demonstrating sustained capacity for extreme distances across diverse mountain terrain. He represented Canada at the World Long Distance Mountain Running Championships, finishing in the top half of the men's field. By day Stevens works as a Spatial Analyst for the province of British Columbia, fitting elite-level training into the schedule of a working parent in Nelson. Since 2018 he has operated as a UESCA-certified running coach through the CoolsaetGO service, helping other runners make the transition to ultra distance racing that once seemed impossible to him.
