About

Dan Green is an American ultrarunner from Huntington, West Virginia, who works at a local running store and is a Marshall University cross-country alumnus — a background that makes his results in the sport's most demanding events all the more striking. He won the Dark Sky 50 Mile in 2021, then placed second in his first 100-mile at the Rim to River 100, and went on to record top-5 finishes at the Javelina Jundred in both 2023 and 2024. In May 2025 he entered the Cocodona 250 — his first race over 100 miles — and won in 58:47:18, a new men’s course record by over an hour, sleeping for a total of around 15 minutes across the two-and-a-half-day race and eventually pulling clear of South Africa’s Ryan Sandes in the closing miles. Fuelled by 160-mile training weeks and a strategy built around consistency over spectacle, he was admitted to the Western States 100 start list seven weeks after Cocodona — completing one of the most compressed leaps from 250-mile debut to 100-mile elite in American ultrarunning.
