About
Cristina 'Tina' Bes Ginesta (born March 21, 1977, Girona, Catalonia) is one of the most versatile mountain athletes in Catalonia, competing at elite level in both ski mountaineering and trail ultra running across a career spanning more than two decades. She began ski mountaineering in 1999, joined the Spanish national ski mountaineering team in 2000, and competed in world championships — placing fifth in the relay and seventh in the Patrouille des Glaciers — alongside her brother Jordi, also a competitive ski mountaineer. Her transition into trail and ultra running took her to the front of the women's field at the UTMB Mont-Blanc events: second place at the CCC (100km, Courmayeur–Champex–Chamonix) in 2014, and second at the TDS (145km, Sur les Traces des Ducs de Savoie) in 2015 — consecutive podiums at two of the most prestigious mountain ultras on the European calendar. In 2016 she ran the UTMB itself before withdrawing mid-race while near the front of the women's field, and returned to the race in 2025, finishing 47th in the women's race. With a UTMB Index of 650 and dual-discipline credentials extending from ski mountaineering to 170km mountain ultras, Bes Ginesta embodies the mountain-sport culture of Catalonia where the Pyrenees serve as a permanent training ground.
