Coral Buitenhuis is a Canadian mountain athlete, endurance coach, and climate action professional from Squamish, British Columbia — one of trail running's most celebrated training communities in North America. She holds a Master of Public Policy from Simon Fraser University (2016) and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and Psychology from the University of Victoria (2012), and works in climate policy and environmental advocacy alongside her coaching practice and competitive running. A UESCA-certified ultrarunning coach and registered yoga teacher, her standout racing result is second place in the women's division of the Kodiak Ultra Marathons 100-mile in 2024. With a UTMB Index of 625 built across distances from 12km to 100 miles, Buitenhuis is one of Canada's most multifaceted endurance athletes — equally competitive in mountain ultra trail racing as she is experienced in ski mountaineering, mountain biking, and multi-hundred-kilometre bikepacking expeditions through the Yukon and the American Southwest.
