About
Brett Sanborn is an American ultrarunner from Albuquerque, New Mexico who holds the course record at the KEYS100 — the 100-mile individual ultra run along the Overseas Highway through the Florida Keys from Key Largo to Key West, contested in the extreme heat and humidity of the sub-tropical Florida summer. In 2019, racing in intense heat with minimal cloud cover, Sanborn broke the previous KEYS100 record by 12 minutes with a time of 13:20:18 — averaging close to 7:15 per mile through the first 50 miles (6:01:29 split) and maintaining effort in a field that included Oz Pearlman and other competitive 100-mile specialists. His entry was partly motivated by the Badwater 135 invitation awarded to the race winner. He also ran a 2:31 marathon at Boston in April 2019, confirming a broad aerobic platform that spans road racing to 100-mile ultras. Has 17 results in the UltraRunning Magazine database including 6th at the La Luz Trail Run 2019.
