About

Brenda Carawan is an American ultrarunner from West Virginia and a member of the West Virginia Mountain Trail Runners community who has been an active competitor in 50-mile and 100-mile events since the late 2000s. She came to competitive ultrarunning through the regional mountain trail racing scene before building to 100-mile distances, recording a 2nd-place women's finish at the Rocky Raccoon 100-Mile in Huntsville, Texas in 2011 — one of the most popular flat 100-mile loop courses in the United States, run through the pines of Huntsville State Park. She has also competed at events including the Javelina Jundred 100-Mile in Fountain Hills, Arizona, and the UMSTEAD 100 in North Carolina, accumulating over 19 results in the UltraRunning Magazine database across nearly a decade of consistent competition from the 50-mile to 100-mile range.
