About
Bouchra Eriksen (born September 22, 1976 in Agadir, Morocco; also known as Bouchra Lundgren Eriksen) has been based in Denmark with her family for fifteen years and competes internationally under the Danish flag as part of the Danish Ultra Marathon Team within the Danish Athletics Federation. One of Denmark's ten fastest marathoners with a personal best of 2:46:34 (set in Marrakech, January 2020), she has built an equally remarkable résumé at ultra distances: she finished second overall in the women's race at the 2019 Marathon des Sables — the 250km, six-stage self-sufficient event across the Moroccan Saharan erg considered the hardest foot race on Earth — a result set in the desert landscape of her birth country. In 2019 she also won the Nordic Championship in a 6-hour track race representing Denmark at the event held in Finland, and in 2020 — despite the restrictions of the pandemic year — won the Danish 100km championship in Viborg. Her journey from Agadir to the top tier of Nordic and international desert ultra running reflects both the global reach of long-distance running culture and a sustained personal commitment to the sport across multiple disciplines and formats.
