Bernhard Mackner is an Austrian trail runner who has emerged as one of Austria's most competitive men on the UTMB World Series mountain ultra circuit, building a strong multi-year résumé at events spanning 50km to 173km. He competed at the UTMB Mont-Blanc in 2024, finishing 45th in the 173km flagship race, and claimed second place at the Mozart 100 by UTMB 2024 in 8:15:15 — one of the most competitive 100km-plus events in the Austrian Alps. On the Eiger Ultra Trail's E51 Panorama course — one of the most technically demanding 50km mountain races in Europe, with more than 3,500m of elevation gain above the Bernese Oberland — he placed eleventh in 2024 (5:58:45) before improving to third in 2025 (7:26:25) on a demanding high-Alpine circuit through the terrain below the North Face. Racing in the 35-39 age category with a UTMB Index of 789, Mackner is among the strongest Austrian men at the mountain ultra distance and continues to compete at the front of the field across UTMB World Series events.
