About

Benjamin Roubiol is a French trail runner born on November 6, 1999, in Moûtiers, Savoie, who grew up in Cruet, a small mountain village in the Tarentaise valley, and passed through competitive climbing before finding his calling in trail running. He represents Asics and is one of the most gifted long-distance trail runners of his generation, combining the speed of a sub-30-minute 10km runner with the endurance and mountain instincts to race at the sharp end of 80–125km events. His breakthrough came in 2023 when he won the World Championship in the 80km long distance trail at Innsbruck-Stubai, becoming world champion at just 23, and backed it up with a silver medal at UTMB 2023 — among the most competitive UTMB fields ever assembled. In 2024 he won the French national trail championship and the legendary 125km Transgrancanaria in the Canary Islands. At the 2025 Trail World Championships at Canfranc he finished second in the long distance race (81.2km, 5,413m elevation) behind Jim Walmsley, with compatriot Louison Coiffet third, helping France claim team gold. He also won the 50km Trail Alsace Grand Est by UTMB in 2025. A former postal worker from Savoy who now competes at world-championship level, Roubiol represents the new wave of French elite trail talent that has made France the sport’s dominant nation.
