About

Ben Duffus is an Australian trail runner and coach based in Indooroopilly, Queensland, who twice represented Australia as a junior at the World Mountain Running Championships — a distinction that marked him early as one of the country's most promising mountain running talents. After partnering with the Mile27 coaching programme in 2012 and applying evidence-based, race-specific training, he finished 7th at Ultra Trail Australia (the then TNF100) in 2013 and went on to win bronze at the 2014 Skyrunning World Championships. He has twice finished runner-up at UTA100 — one of the Southern Hemisphere's most technical mountain ultras, covering 100km across the sandstone escarpments, steep valley descents, and cliff-top singletrack of the Blue Mountains National Park in New South Wales — and has accrued a UTMB Index of 823 across high-level international competition. A Hoka-sponsored athlete, he also coaches online through Mile27 and runs his personal platform Perpetual Motion (benduffus.com), focused on building mountain-specific endurance for trail athletes across all ability levels. Based at sub-tropical elevation, he trains on Queensland's varied terrain while competing across Australia, Europe, and Asia.
