About

Ben Dhiman is an American ultrarunner from Ohio whose path to elite trail running began in the mountains of the American West rather than on any track. In 2016 he thru-hiked the Continental Divide Trail, and the following year found himself working as a waiter at the Brown Bear Cafe in Silverton, Colorado — sleeping in a tent beside the Animas River — when the Hardrock 100 came to town. He volunteered to pace runners, ran two stints with different athletes, and was immediately seized by what 100-mile mountain racing demanded. His wife is French, and the couple settled in the French Pyrenees, where Dhiman has built his career surrounded by mountains that suit his aggressive uphill style. His breakthrough came in 2025: he won the Lavaredo Ultra Trail 120k in 11:49:16 and the Grand Raid Ventoux 100k in 7:35:47, then finished second at UTMB Mont-Blanc on his third attempt at the race — having DNF'd on each of his first two tries — earning third in the 2025 Worldwide UltraRunner of the Year standings. Named #9 in the 2024 rankings, he has rapidly established himself as one of the most exciting emerging talents in elite ultrarunning.
