About
Becca Windell is an American ultrarunner, wildlife biologist, and trail running coach based in Colorado who spent several years competing as a professional cyclist before pivoting to trail running and academia, pursuing a PhD at Colorado State University where she researches chronic wasting disease in mule deer and prairie wildlife ecology. She made her 100-mile debut at the 2021 Bear 100, winning the race outright. At the 2024 Black Canyon 100K she finished second, earning a Golden Ticket to Western States, where she placed 16th among the women in 19:38. She coaches trail runners while fitting training around her research fieldwork, and is one of ultrarunning's most distinctive figures as an active scientist-athlete.
