Azara Garcia de los Salmones (born June 18, 1983, Los Corrales de Buelna, Cantabria) started competing in athletics at age 8 and discovered mountain running in 2010 when she won the Kilómetro Vertical de Fuente Dé. In 2017 she became the first professional female trail runner in Spain, leaving her job to race full-time. Career highlights include a European Championship at Zegama-Aizkorri (2015), back-to-back victories at Transgrancanaria Classic (2017 and 2021), a win at Festival des Templiers (2018), and four Spanish national titles in a single year (2016). She joined the Kailas FUGA Team in 2026 and continues to race internationally under her nickname 'La Tormenta Cántabra' — The Cantabrian Storm.
