Antonio Martínez is a Spanish mountain runner with roots in competitive orienteering who became the dominant force in the Skyrunner World Series in 2023, claiming the overall circuit title that year. Born and raised in Spain, he spent time in Norway training alongside Scandinavian athletes and absorbing their approach to training specificity and mountain preparation. A BUFF ambassador, he has won the Transgrancanaria Marathon, the Trail du Saint-Jacques by UTMB in 2025, and the UTMB Val d'Aran 15K. At the European Mountain Championships in Montenegro he collected three bronze medals. His transition from competitive orienteering — where technical navigation and mountain movement are core skills — to elite trail racing reflects an increasingly common pathway for athletes with strong outdoor movement foundations.
