About
Anne-Marie Madden is a Canadian cardiothoracic anesthesiologist and elite trail runner based in Vancouver who has built one of the most exceptional athlete-professional double careers in North American running. She won The North Face Endurance Challenge 50 Mile Championships in San Francisco — one of the most prestigious trail prizes in the US — finished second at the 2020 Tarawera 102km, and placed second at the 2019 TNF 50 Mile Championships. In 2022 she placed third at the Black Canyon 100K to earn a Golden Ticket to Western States, where she finished 11th in her 100-mile debut. She represented Canada at the 2023 World Mountain and Trail Running Championships in Innsbruck-Stubai. Madden trains before dawn with her dog Tucker, fitting runs around hospital shifts — a routine that has made her one of ultrarunning's clearest examples of what competitive drive looks like outside a professional racing contract.
