About
Anna-Marie Watson is a British ultrarunner, former British Army officer, and performance coach who brings to trail running the resilience and leadership forged during a nine-year military career including three operational tours in Afghanistan and Iraq. Growing up in northeast England with a fell-running father, she was drawn into the Army through the Newcastle Royal Grammar School Cadet Force, leading to an Army sixth-form scholarship and cadetship at the University of Manchester. Her first UTMB-family race was the CCC in 2008; nearly a decade later she completed the full 171-kilometre UTMB Mont-Blanc in 2017, placing 7th woman. Her ultra résumé spans over 45 events including two completions of the Marathon des Sables, a finish at the Grand Raid de la Réunion - Diagonale des Fous, and a victory at Oman by UTMB. Now based in the Wiltshire countryside, she is a qualified performance coach (Post Graduate Certificate in Applied Coaching, University of Derby; Master's in Teaching, University of Sydney), co-hosts the Coaching Outdoors podcast, and runs her Reach for More coaching business.
