About
Andrew Tuckey is an Australian ultrarunner widely regarded as one of the finest ultra-distance trail runners the country has produced. Born and raised in the tiny village of East Kurrajong in the foothills of the Blue Mountains west of Sydney, he came to running late — not taking it seriously until he moved to London in his early twenties, progressing from gym treadmills to city roads to the London Marathon before spells in Edinburgh, Bristol, and Wales. He returned to Sydney at around 30 and rapidly established himself as Australia's dominant ultra trail runner: finishing on the podium at The North Face 100 for three consecutive years (including second in a hard-fought sprint against Stu Gibson in 2014) and setting the record at the Coast to Kosci ultramarathon. In 2015 he stepped onto the global stage, placing 9th at Western States 100 in California and 6th at UTMB Mont-Blanc — the highest finish by an Australian at the race — results that confirmed him as a major international talent. A long-time North Face Australia athlete, he subsequently relocated with his family to Bridgend in Wales.
