About
Andreu Simon Aymerich is a Spanish trail and mountain runner born on August 28, 1991, in Sant Vicenç dels Horts, Catalonia, who has built one of the sport's most inspiring competitive records while managing type 1 diabetes — a condition diagnosed at 17 that ended his football career and redirected him toward the mountains above his hometown. A four-time Spanish national trail champion, he has won the Transgrancanaria Ultra (2023, 13:39:33), the Transgrancanaria Marathon, the Asics SainteLyon, the Mount Fuji 100 KAI70k (2024), and the Mozart 100 by UTMB (2025), and placed 2nd at the La Sportiva Lavaredo Ultra Trail. With a UTMB® Index of 880, he runs on the ASICS Trail Team and is a Buff and Nitecore ambassador, and is regarded as one of Spain's most complete and technically accomplished mountain runners.
