About
Andrea Macchi is an Italian trail runner who produced back-to-back victories at two of Europe and the Middle East's most prestigious ultra-trail events in the late 2010s. In 2018, at 32, he won the Salomon Cappadocia Ultra Trail in Turkey — a 119-kilometre mountain race through the volcanic landscape of Central Anatolia — crossing the finish line in 11:12 ahead of 262 competitors. He followed that with victory at the 2019 Gran Trail Courmayeur, a demanding mountain race through the Aosta Valley at the foot of Mont Blanc, adding a second major title within 12 months. An active competitor across Italian and international trail circuits, Macchi remains a respected figure in the sport.
