About
Aliza Lapierre is an American trail runner, writer, and Salomon athlete from Vermont who grew up playing ice hockey — starting on a boys' team at age five and continuing through high school — before multiple concussions at St. Lawrence University ended her playing career and she put on running shoes. A local 5k led to a road marathon, which led to the Vermont 50 in 2004, her first ultra, where she discovered a community and a passion that have defined the next two decades of her life. A longtime contributor and race correspondent for iRunFar and an UnTapped maple syrup team member, she has raced at the elite level across North America and Asia, with victories at the 2018 Georgia Death Race and 2021 UROC 100k and a competitive presence at Ultra-Trail World Tour events including races in Japan. One of the sport's most thoughtful voices on culture and community, Lapierre has been a consistent ambassador for trail running in North America across a long and varied competitive career.
