About
Alex Nichols is an American trail and ultrarunner from Minneapolis who competed for Colorado College in cross-country and track — earning All-America cross country honours as a senior before graduating in 2008 — before settling in Colorado Springs and building one of the most respected careers in American ultra-trail running while serving as head coach of Colorado College's cross-country programs, a role he grew into from assistant since 2012. A Scott-sponsored athlete and iRunFar contributor, Nichols has a deep personal connection to Pikes Peak — he has run to the summit and back every month for years, maintaining a streak of over 56 consecutive monthly ascents as of 2022 — and has won the Pikes Peak Marathon twice. His race record also includes the Mont Blanc 80K, the Run Rabbit Run 100 Mile, and a second-place finish at the Western States 100. He was named USATF Ultra-Trail Runner of the Year in 2015 and led the U.S. men's team to a silver medal at the Trail World Championships that same year.
