About

Aite Tamang is a Nepali trail and mountain runner from Kavre — a village nestled deep in a valley five hours by bus from Kathmandu — who grew up running mountain trails daily to reach his school bus, unknowingly building the aerobic and technical foundation for an international career. After joining the Nepalese Army at 18, he came to the attention of race director and coach Ramesh Bhattachan in 2011, who brought him to Pokhara to train full-time. The investment yielded immediate results: at Malaysia's 2012 Kinabalu International Climbathon, Tamang finished just 90 seconds behind Kilian Jornet in second place. In 2013, at his first race in Europe, he placed 13th at UTMB, completing the course in under 24 hours — a stunning debut on the world's most prestigious ultra-trail stage. A defending Annapurna 100k champion who competes for Team Nepalese Army, Tamang was among the first Nepali runners to make a sustained impact on the international trail circuit.
