About
Abdelkader El Mouaziz is a Moroccan long-distance runner born on January 1, 1969, who stands as one of the most decorated road marathon performers of the late 1990s and early 2000s. A two-time winner of the London Marathon (1999 and 2001) and champion of the 2000 New York City Marathon, he shares the record — with Stefano Baldini — for the most sub-2:10 marathon performances in history, logging 13 such times across his career. El Mouaziz placed runner-up at London in both 1998 and 2000, won the 1994 Madrid Marathon, and represented Morocco at the sport's highest level for over a decade. Later in his career he extended into trail and mountain racing, earning a UTMB® Index and competing on the trail circuit for the Maroc TGCC team.
